
The Permaculture design certificate course is an intensive 72 hr program of lectures , practical design work and field exercises,designed to provide participants with a conceptual and practical framwork for a sustainable future.
The course is open to anybody who wishes to design their own garden or farm, and to professionals seeking to develop an ecological approach to their work ( eg.landscapers , architects,town planners, horticulturists etc) . Anyone in fact who occupies a town block or a rural property,will find the course practical and relevant to their needs.
Key topics include:
-theory and principles of sustainable systems
-planning and design methods
-reading landscapes and understanding natural systems
-orchards and crops
-aquaculture and water systems
- appropriate building and technology
-organic soil improvement and gardening techniques
- poultry and animal forage
-micro climate , shelter and bushfire design
- personal, family and community strategies.
On most evenings there will be videos , slide presentations, and discussions.
The course presenters will be John Champagne, David Arnold and others, who are all experienced teachers with a wealth of knowledge to impart.
The venue is a 150 acre property in Kangaroo Valley NSW , south of Sydney. There is a very large vegetable garden , subtropical orchard , hydro/solar power , excellent bush walking , rainforests , water falls etc. Accommodaton is spread around various buildings , including houses and farm sheds, and while all arrangements are adequate , there are no frills ( participants who provide their own tents /campervans etc will receive a small discount).
The cost is $750 for tuition , plus $380 for accommodation . All meals are included , and we are attempting to produce most of the fresh food on site . People coming by public transport will be picked up at Bowral or Nowra.
